Chonky orange cat who has absolutely had it with his diet tries eating his automatic feeder: 'I didn't even know his mouth could open so big'

Diets are the worst. That is a universal sentiment among everyone - humans and cats alike. And although we are avid supporters that cats are allowed to be chonky, at least to a certain degree, and that the more cat there is, the more cat there is to love, we also understand that some cats… are too chonky. And that means that it is time to face that dreadful thing known as a diet. 

Now, we understand that. We understand that it's time for our cat to dechonkify. But our cats don't get it. Our cats love food, and beautiful chonky cats like the ones who need diets love food more than most. So, it's hard for them to deal with it, just like it would be hard for us. But they have to. Unlike ourselves, they don't have a choice, not really. And so, they get hangry. And they exact their revenge in some of the most serious, consequential… and funniest ways possible.

  • Goodness, no matter how hilarious this is - and boy, it is hilarious - we cannot be mad at him. We too feel the same way whenever our food intake gets restricted in any way. Hangry. So hangry. The only difference is that we cannot start behaving like this in reaction or we will be shunned. Cats can do whatever they want, and we will still love them.

    Wbpaper Our cat has the same exact auto feeder. He would knock it over so many times trying to break it open that I had to stick it to the floor with industrial strength Velcro Imao.

    WiseSnowy Owl I suggest you buy him an interactive bowl if he is stressed about his food. We have an obese orange cat at home and we bought him the exact same feeder. He was always stressed about food and waited in front of the machine. Then, someone gave us an Intellikatt bowl and since, he is much more relaxed and is losing weight gradually. He always has food in his bowl, so he doesn't need to stress about it anymore and actually seems to enjoys working to get food!

    ghostfacedgf OP Good to know! He only gets one meal from the auto feeder while my partner and I are at work. He used to not be very food motivated (shocking considering the weight we adopted him at), but has become way more food stressed since we switched him to a c/d diet (~1 month ago). We have the traditional style of slow feeders, but nothing like the intellikatt! Hopefully it'll help him with his weight loss too :)
